Our desktop size Dual Axis Sun Tracker Kit is designed to follow a light source like the sun horizontally and vertically to produce up to 40% more energy as compared with fixed solar panels. Students learn, first hand, how light tracking dramatically improves solar panel performance.


In Automatic Light Tracking Mode four photo-sensitive LEDs track the light source to keep the solar panels perfectly aligned for maximum energy capture. In Manual Joystick Mode the 2-axis joystick moves the solar panels to track a moving light source like a bright flashlight – great for student contests and, also, to learn how light tracking improves solar energy capture.

The ecoCAD Dual Axis Sun Tracker Kit allows students to learn about the mechanical design of a sun tracker as well as how servo motors work in a pan-tilt configuration.

We also include detailed experiments that illustrate the advantages of sun tracking. Plus, the solar panels can be connected to our energy monitoring software for full computer graphical analysis.

We even supply the CAD files so that students can “scale up” our design to larger solar panels.
